She is best known for her classically beautiful floral Still Life but also enjoys painting portraits and capturing the soul of a person. As a child, her Grandmother's would help her identify various wild flowers at their cabin above Oakley, Utah. This is where her love of flowers began. "I still have the book where I pressed and categorized wild flowers that my paternal Grandmother helped me with." Robbins also grows all the flowers that she lovingly paints. Over 80 roses, peonies, lilies, sunflowers and many other flowers are just a step away from her 600 sq. ft studio where she paints. She is co-owner of Bella Muse Gallery in Ogden, Utah and owns Bella Muse Productions where she films and produces instructional painting videos and offers painting scholarships to help inspire other artists along their journey. She has won numerous awards including "Best Still Life" and "Best of Show" at the National Oil and Acrylic Painter's Exhibit and the "Tuffy Berg Award" at the 2008 CM Russell auction. Learn More _____ Image 4524185 Susan Lyon studied art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and was an active participant in Chicago's Palette and Chisel Club. It is there she first began exhibiting and selling her work; at twenty-three she was the youngest winner of the prestigious Gold Medal which she won two consecutive years in the annual Oil Painting show plus a third place in the Silver Medal show. Medal Watercolor show. She entered the Oil Painters of America show once and got 7th place. In 1998 and 2000 she won an artist choice award in the Northwest Rendezvous Show. Susan draws inspiration from painters of the Guilded age such as Anders Zorn, Joaquin Sorolla and John Singer Sargent. She also is passionate about artists like Philip Malavin from Russia and contemporary masters Richard Schmid and Nancy Guzik. Lyon's technique is to paint wet on wet to start and then wet on dry for her finishing touches. "My style is realistic with as much impressionistic color as possible. I like to combine wide brushes for sweeping strokes in the background with small, soft brushes for subtle details in my center of interest." Her paintings often depict people in peaceful settings or places that evoke happiness. She especially loves painting women and children, and seeks to convey all of her subjects with honesty and sensitivity. Anna was self taught until college. Inspired by her grandfather, who started painting at the age of 70, Anna spent her free time as a child sketching from nature and poring over art books. She studied fine art at Hillsdale College from 2003-2007, and in 2006 she took a figure painting course at the Florence Academy of Art.
